In the thick of the December frosts and early starts on my travels around the country, I booked a night in Aherne’s in Youghal on my way from Clonakilty.
It had been a long day so I just wanted to chill our and have dinner in my room. Although it was peak Christmas party season, and the restaurant was full, dinner (delicious by the way!) in my room was not a problem – they were delighted to accommodate my request. A look out the window the following morning reminded me of the time of year with frost everywhere. After a wonderful breakfast, I made my way to my car laden down with laptop, briefcase, projector case and suitcase!
As I walked I realised I’d probably need to come back to the hotel for hot water to clear my windscreen … but when I reached my car, the windscreen had already been cleared. There’s an example of customer care at its best.
It cost nothing to anticipate my needs, but made such a significant difference to my day! I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve quoted this example in training workshops!
