As Chair of Galway International Arts Festival, I am a mix of emotions!
On the one hand, I am delighted with the phenomenal success of sell out shows, stunning reviews, standing ovations, jaw-dropping street theatre, soaring social media engagement – the biggest Galway International Arts Festival ever! On the other hand I am saddened it is all over…
It has been a roller coaster of world-class music, theatre, visual art and discussion - 199 events, in 27 venues over 14 days to be precise! And every single one of them an extraordinary creative collision on the edge of Europe.
I am immensely proud of the continued growth and success of Galway International Arts Festival, which contributes over €20million to the local and regional economies; this Festival is a significant player in so many ways - for arts and culture, tourism and local communities. The buzz in the city over the past fortnight has been remarkable amongst locals, visitors from other parts of Ireland and visitors from overseas. If you were not fortunate enough to be here, check out the highlights (link below)and make sure you get here in 2015!
